Every year the Florida Keys Society for Human Resources Management awards a $1,000 Human Resources Professional Scholarship to a high school student seeking a degree in Human Resources. The student is required to provide a 200-300 word essay describing his/her professional goals and explain why he/she has chosen the Human Resources field. The student is also required to provide a recommendation from a faculty member of the high school.
This year's award was given to Key West High School senior Brianna Gibson by Human Resource Management Scholarship Chair Julio J. Torrado.
Ms. Gibson plans to attend the University of South Florida where she plans to pursue a degree in business management. Congratulations to Ms. Gibson and the class of 2016!
The scholarship is in honor of Ms. Hobbs, a local entrepreneur and founding member of our organization. During her lifetime she was dedicated to the career success of young people who wanted to excel in business. Upon her passing her mother donated funds to our organization to create a scholarship trust fund in her memory to assist students pursuing a college degree in the Human Resources or Business fields.
